Read: Deuteronomy 6:4-7 & Numbers 27:18-23
One day we will no longer be a part of this world. The Bible tells us our lives are a mist that only exists for a little while. With the little time we’ve been given, we can further God’s kingdom or our own personal “kingdoms.” Some people spend their entire lives building businesses and pursuing causes that fail when the founder dies.
The Bible shows us something distinct about the work of God’s kingdom. It continues across generations. Joshua continued Moses’ ministry after his death by leading the Israelites into the promised land. King David’s desire to build a temple for God was fulfilled through his son, Solomon.
These examples should not only encourage us to pursue the work of the Lord, they should motivate us to guide the next generation as well. God gives us the opportunity to share who He is and what He’s done with the next generation of believers. He grants us the responsibility of instructing and training them in His ways. Then, like Moses, we will have confidence that they will continue to be obedient to the Lord in the work He has prepared. Take time today to ask God how you can help train the next generation.]]>
