Matthew 19:13-14 Like most kids, I was pretty imaginative. I was pretty much on my own, though, because there weren’t any other boys who were within a decade of my age in our neighborhood. Sure, like most brothers, I would torment my little sister, but even that got boring at times. To fill the time, I remember spending countless hours outside shooting basketball daydreaming about making the NBA and hitting the game winning shot or trudging through the woods imagining that I was in the actual Jurassic Park. When you’re a kid, you believe that anything is possible. The only limitation is what you’re brain can imagine. When we are older, though, reality sets in. As we begin to see the real world, we realize that we aren’t going to be a professional athlete and that we probably won’t get to see a real life T-Rex in our lifetimes. It doesn’t stop with our childhood fantasies, reality tells us that many of our dreams and aspirations are just as far fetched. We may have some God-sized dreams of what He might want to do in our life or how we might make the world a better place, but all we hear is “it’s no use” or “even if it were possible, you don’t have what it takes.” We are left discouraged and thinking that we might as well give up on what we feel like God might want us to do because we aren’t good enough. In the Bible, Jesus tells us to have the faith of a child. He has big plans for all of us, and, when we allow the world to tell us we aren’t good enough and our God isn’t big enough, we can end up missing out on what God might have in store for us. When God is in the picture, you can be a little childish because, with God, anything is possible. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
Reflect: How has your relationship with God been lately? Do you feel like you’re getting closer to God or farther away from Him? Why? Pray: As you begin praying today, imagine God was a friend who has just genuinely asked you, “how are you doing?” Take time answering that question in prayer honestly to God.
