Read Luke 2:33-35 Growing up, there were a few years when I was obsessed with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. My mom even made me a red Power Rangers suite one year for Trick-or-Treat. For a couple of years, Power Rangers toys dominated my Christmas list. I remember watching episodes of the Power Rangers when I was young. I was amazed at how cool the show was. A few weeks ago, I found an old episode online. Let’s just say I wasn’t quite as blown away by the special effects at age 30 as I was when I was 11. After Simeon praised God because of seeing the baby Jesus, the earthly parents of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, marvelled at what was being said about the child. They were filled with wonder and astonishment over the words spoken about Jesus. There is truly nothing more amazing in the universe than the person of Jesus. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, yet He chose to come to earth as a servant to give us life and hope. This is truly something that should fill us with wonder. Do you ever stop in the middle of all the craziness of life and think of how truly remarkable Jesus is. Even more than that, are you ever just truly filled with wonder over all God has given you. Sure, you could easily come up with a list of things you’d like to be better in your life, but God has given us all so much. At the end of the day, the most astonishing thing is that God loved us so much to send His Son to die for us in the first place. We use words like “awesome” and “that’s amazing” in our culture, but what’s truly astonishing is how much God loves us and has given to us. Because we’re so familiar with what God has done for us, sometimes it’s easy for us to forget how truly marvellous He is. Reflect When was the last time you were filled with wonder when you thought about God and what He has done for you? Pray Spend a few moments today praying for those who are feeling overwhelmed this holiday season either by busyness, depression, or other reasons. Ask God to be with them and help them rely on Him. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
