Read Luke 2:36-38 Every now and then, my wife and I will be talking and I’ll notice she’s zoning out a little bit. She’ll do her best to listen and pretend to listen, but I realize I’m boring her to death going on and on about something I’m into that she may not have the same interest in. But, the fact of the matter is, all of us think and talk about the things we care about. After Mary and Joseph were astonished by the words of Simeon concerning the baby Jesus, a prophet named Anna met Jesus. Anna was a widow who worshipped night and day by fasting and praying and never left the temple. When Anna saw the newborn king, she thanked God. After Anna had her encounter with Jesus, she couldn’t help but tell everyone in the nearby towns about what and who she had encountered. We talk about the things we care about and the things we love. We talk about things that are important to us. When someone has truly encountered God, they will talk about it. God banked on it when He designed His plan to share Jesus with the world. He’s given us the responsibility of sharing His love with the people He has put in our lives. However, being a messenger is about much more than just the words we say or talking to people about Jesus. It’s about communicating God’s love to the world with how we live. Reflect Who is a Christian in your life that was truly a messenger of God’s love with how they lived their lives? What stood out about how they lived? How would you like to be more like them? Pray Ask God to help you share His love with how you live and speak to the people around you. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
