Bible In A Year | Read: Luke 2
7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son… and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7
Overview of Chapter
This is the familiar version of the Christmas story that many read on Christmas day. The God of the universe is born to a poor couple who can’t find a proper place to have a baby. The miraculous nature of this birth is confirmed by angels, and the special nature of the boy is confirmed by those in the temple.
The humility and love demonstrated by this story is amazing! Becoming like Jesus means we should be loving and humble too.
Thoughts on the verses
What an epic irony. God created the universe, space, time and mankind but man has no room for Him.
You can imagine Joseph and Mary going from motel to motel, door to door asking for a room, but everyone slams the door in their face. In the same way, Jesus is also knocking at the door of our hearts. I wonder if we will slam the door on Him too?
I thank God that He is gracious and forgiving. While we have no room for Him on earth, He made room for us in heaven.
John 14:2 says There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home… I’m on my way to get a room ready for you?
Thank God He didn’t treat us the way we treated Him. He came to earth and man didn’t prepare a room for Him, yet when we go to heaven, Jesus has already prepared a room for us.
John 14:2 in the NKJV says In My Father’s house are many mansions…
Manger = animal feeding trough
Man left Jesus in a manger yet He left to prepare a mansion for us.
That’s undeserved, unconditional love.

Have you ever thought it would be cool to hear some C3 leaders discuss the daily verses, share about their lives and mostly just talk about nonsense? Of course not!…even though nobody has ever thought that we are still doing it.
