Read Romans 8:38-39 Like most young boys, I found myself getting in trouble alot as a kid. I would do something stupid, try to blame it on my sister, and, sure enough, eventually get yelled at and probably grounded. Whenever my mom or dad would discipline me, I would think that they were the worst people in the world. “They just don’t get it,” I thought. What I didn’t realize it at the time is that they were punishing me, not because they hated me, but because they wanted what is best for me. They wanted me to learn how to be the very best version of me I can. In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul talks about how strong God’s love and care for us is. He tells his listeners that he is convinced that nothing in all the universe can separate us from the love God has for us. This includes both death and life, angels, demons, the present, the future, and on and on he goes. Nothing in all of creation can separate us from the love of Christ Jesus our Lord. The Bible teaches us that sin separates us from God, and, many times, it feels like we become disconnected from God when we mess up. However, once we have put our faith in Christ for salvation, God’s love for us is form. Our relationship with Him is assured. We may wander from Him from time to time, but, once we have a relationship with God, there is nothing that can separate us from His great love for us. No matter how badly you mess up, you’ve never messed up so badly that God can’t forgive you. He’s there for you, He cares for you, He is God with you even when you mess up. Sure, we have to deal with the consequences of our sins, but it doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love or care about us anymore. God wants what’s best for you, and He’s right there with you trying to help you become the very best version of you possible Reflect What are some things that cause you to feel closer to God? What are some things that cause you to feel farther away from God? Pray Talk to God about your relationship with Him. Tell Him you know His love for you never waivers, but you sometimes struggle in following Him. Ask God to help you draw closer to Him in your life. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
