1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 & Proverbs 14:30 Have you ever wondered why the news is always so depressing and negative? There’s one story after another that focuses on the bad stuff in society. It’s because we love to focus on the negative in life. We can quickly take for granted and brush aside the good things around us and devote all of our energy to thinking and talking about all the negative. No one cares about the local organization doing great things for the people in a community. We want to talk about the group that messed up. The guy who did something wrong. We want to focus on everything negative. This is the same thing that we do in our personal lives as well. All of us, no matter what situation you find yourself in right now, have many things to be thankful for. No matter how hard you want to focus on the negative things in your life, there are still many positives going on. One of the quickest ways to become depressed is by brushing aside the positive things in your life and allowing yourself to be consumed by the negative. Take a moment today to make a list of all the things you can be thankful for, and spend a few minutes thanking God for those things and asking Him to help you to get through the negative things without being consumed by them.]]>
