Read Philippians 1:27-30

Act your age. Act like you’ve been there before. Act like a(n) “insert your family’s last name here.”

At some point in time, we’ve all been told to act a certain way because of where or who we are. There are certain expectations that come from where you might be or who you might be.

In Philippians 1, Paul instructs the people to “conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.”

Think about what that means for a second. What would be a way of life that is worthy of the gospel of Christ? What kind of things would someone be doing to be characterized in that way?

Notice, too, Paul also says “whatever happens.” We love to make excuses when we mess up. We’ve just had a bad day, or we’re not feeling well. But, here, Paul makes it very clear that there are no excuses when it comes to living our lives in a way worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
