1 Peter 3:15 One of my biggest pet peeves is someone watching me do something when I’m not completely sure I know how to do what I’m doing. Whether it’s trying to put a piece of furniture together, make something new for dinner, or something else completely random, I like to try my hand at it, but I don’t like the added pressure of having someone looking over my shoulder. I want to be able to figure it out through trial and error without feeling judged. In short, I just want to do my thing and be left alone. Many of us carry this same mindset when it comes to our faith. We are willing to try out the whole following Jesus thing, but we want it to be a private matter. We want to do our thing and figure it out through trial and error without feeling like anyone is looking over our shoulder and judging us. The problem with this way of thinking is that faith doesn’t work that way. God designed it so that our words and actions are the way others see Jesus. God never intended for faith to be a private matter. We are to always be ready to show God’s love to the people around us. Our faith being a public matter doesn’t mean we can never mess up. None of us are perfect, and we will have flaws along the way. It’s not about it seeming like we have it all together. It’s about God using our lives to show people that He loves and cares about us even with all of our flaws. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
