Read Joshua 1:5-6 Have you ever been asked by someone to help them do something, but, when you begin to help them, you quickly realize that you’re the one doing it with them helping or, worse yet, you’re the one doing it with them being nowhere to be found? It can be frustrating to have someone ask you to do something, and they bail on you. God, though, promises He will never bail on us. When He asks us to do something, He’s going to be with us to see it through. After the death of Moses, God told Joshua that he would lead the people across the Jordan River to the land God had promised to Moses and the Israelites. God told Joshua that no one was going to be able to stand against him all the days of Joshua’s life. Then, to reassure Joshua, he told him that, just as God had been with Moses, He was going to be with Joshua as well. “I will never leave you nor forsake you” is what God told Joshua. God also instructed him to be strong and courageous. Joshua could have this confidence because God was going to be with him to help him realize God’s purpose for his life. God has a purpose for every one of our lives. No matter how much we’ve messed up in the past or how afraid we are, God can still use us to accomplish His purposes through us in the world. But, God doesn’t give us a job to do and, then, leave us to fend for ourselves. Just like He promised Joshua that He would be with him every step of the way, God promises to never abandon us as well. He wants to help us see our lives through. He wants to help us see His purposes work through our lives. Are you ready to step out and do all that God has created you to do? If so, you can be strong and courageous because God has promised to be with you as you step out to serve Him. Reflect Is there anything you think God might be wanting you to do that you’ve been shying away from? What purposes do you think God has planned for you? Pray Talk to God some today about His plan for your life. Don’t just focus on big picture stuff, but also on the everyday things He wants you to be doing. Ask Him how He wants you to live right where you are right now. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
