Matthew 25:35-40 Whenever I hear about a friend or someone who is moving or doing work around their house. Because I like to be a good friend, I’ll often tell them to let me know if they need any help. Lucky for me, others rarely take me up on it. There are those times, though, when a friend will say, “awesome, show up at 7 am.” It’s usually soon after I show up when I’m thinking to myself, “what did I get myself into?” I often genuinely want to help my friend, but I the help is often more difficult or tedious than I was really wanting to do. I’m willing to help, but I don’t really want to do what they need help with. I find myself doing thing alot in all areas of my life. I love helping out people who have fallen on tough times. I like helping out someone who is in a tough situation. But, often, the way I want to help is wildly different from the help people need. I want to be able to help in a way that doesn’t cost me much time or money. I want to be able to help out while I stay in my comfort zone. This often leads to help that doesn’t help anyone a whole lot over the long term. God’s purpose for each of us is to serve others and help those who are less fortunate than us. To do that, we have to be willing to step out of our comfort zones at times. We need to be willing to sacrifice our time and resources sometimes. Because, at the end of the day, we’re not only serving those we are helping, but we are serving God in the process. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
