Matthew 5:1-10 One day growing up, my mom made spaghetti with homemade sauce one evening for family dinner. Spaghetti was always one of the family favorites, so everyone was excited to eat. We all sat down at dinner, and one by one,  we each took the first bite and curled up our noses. Something was wrong with this batch of spaghetti sauce. Something was VERY VERY wrong. It was flat out gross. After some investigating, she figured out that she had used cinnamon in the sauce instead of chili powder. The result wasn’t very pleasant. One small ingredient completely ruined the whole meal. When it comes to the difference between true joy (being blessed) and just being temporarily happy, one ingredient can make a world of difference…that one key ingredient is contentment. When you are content in life, you can learn to have joy even when situations aren’t exactly the way you want them. When you’re content, you’re able to truly enjoy the good times in life. When you are content, you are better equipped to handle the ups and downs of life without getting too high or low yourself. Ultimately, contentment comes from having enough faith and trust in God that you realize that, no matter what’s happening in your life, God is still in control, loves you, and has an awesome plan for your life.]]>
