Deuteronomy 15:7-11 I’ll never forget my middle school basketball team. It was the funnest time I ever had playing basketball. We had a lot of fun guys playing, so it made it a fun team to play for. There was one guy who wanted to play and be on the team, but he didn’t want to come to practice. He wanted to skip every day of practice and just show up and play during the games. Needless to say, he was kicked off the team pretty quickly. You can’t claim to be on a team and not do the things required of you to be a part of it. You can’t truly follow God unless you’re willing to do what Jesus tells us to do in serving, loving, and caring for others.  You can’t claim to be all about Jesus yet focused on yourself all the time every day. To follow God, you have to submit to his authority and you have to serve, love, and care for others. Just like showing up to practice is part of what it means to be a part of a team, being outward focused and serving others is just a part of what it means to be a follower of Jesus. How can you make an effort today to serve, love, and show compassion for those around you? READ THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT Today’s Reading: Mark 13]]>
