Daniel Week Five, Day Two Read Daniel 10:6-9 When I was in the fourth grade, I was taken out of math class one day with a group of about a dozen other students to work with a tutor. Most of the people working with the tutor were having trouble with long division. As we worked through practice problems, it became clear pretty quickly that I knew something the others didn’t. I felt like a superstar as I solved the long division problems with ease. It didn’t make sense to me how the other kids were struggling so mightily with such an issue. The tutor even asked me why I was out with the group that needed to work to get up to speed with the rest of the class. As I shrugged, our tutor went to talk to our teacher. Turned out, while I could do long division with the best of them, I had no clue what I was doing with long multiplication. Quickly, I became the one who couldn’t see what the rest of the class saw. Weeks after Daniel’s troubling dream about an upcoming great war, Daniel saw another vision. This time, he saw a man who was shining bright, his eyes like flames, and his voice booming. Daniel was with other people at the time, but he was the only one to see the vision. These men, though, were overcome with terror and left Daniel alone staring at the vision. As Daniel stood there alone, he became weak and pale at the sight until, finally, the man began to speak. Daniel had a supernatural moment with God, but no one else around Daniel could see what Daniel was seeing. God speaks to different people in different ways at different times. You’ve experienced this yourself if you’ve ever sat in church, and, while listening to the message, you’ve felt as though the message was directed right at you. This is why some people can experience something that shakes them to their core and turns them back to God, but someone else, experiencing the exact same thing, will continue living their life with no change at all. Daniel experienced God in an amazing way, and it was too much to handle even for Daniel who had stood so strongly through so much he had experienced beforehand in his life. Daniel fainted in the face of what many believe to be a vision of Jesus Himself. There will be times in your life when God deals with you individually. He will reveal Himself to you or speak to you in a way that will be hard for you to explain to others. In fact, someone may be right there with you and completely miss what you’ve experienced. When God speaks or directs your life, pay attention. God shouldn’t be taken lightly. He’s the king of the universe, but He still chooses to work in and through you. REFLECT: Even though the people with Daniel couldn’t see the vision, they still ran away in fear. Why do you think they were afraid? Have you ever experienced God in a way that others couldn’t see or understand? PRAY: Use your prayer time today to pray for yourself and your family. Ask God to direct your steps and guide your lives. Ask God to help you follow Him even if He asks you to live in ways and do things that may not make sense to others around you. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
