Philippians 2:1-4 I’ve always been pretty competitive. Even as a kid I hated to lose and always want to win. When my sister and I would play checkers or one of the other hundreds of board games we played as kids, I would sometimes let my sister win (or at least let it stay competitive), because I knew she would quit and I wouldn’t get to play anymore. I didn’t let her win because I cared about her feelings. I actually let her win because I was being selfish. As much as we try otherwise, we are by nature very selfish people. Much of what we do, even the good things, is often done for selfish reasons. We will help someone because we want people to think we are generous. We will make a donation as long as it doesn’t cost us too much. On and in it goes. Many times, we won’t be generous at all because we are selfish and want our money for what we want it for and not for what God wants to do with it. Don’t allow selfishness to keep you from being generous. Value others and God’s plan above yourself and your own plans about your life. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
