Read Psalm 139:13-16

I love the show Pawn Stars. I think it is really interesting to see what’s old and valuable and what’s just old. Nothing on the show is inherently worth anything. According to Rick, it doesn’t matter what someone is asking for it on ebay. The value of an item is only determined by what someone is willing to pay for it.

Most of us look to things outside of God to determine our value. We look to our relationships, family, status, job, bank accounts, accomplishments, and a number of other things to determine if we are worth anything. We chase after all of these things because we want to matter. We want to have value.

Your value, though, doesn’t come from who you are, who you’re with, what you do, or anything like that. Your value comes from what God was willing to pay for you. He sent His Son to die on a cross for YOU. You matter because you matter to Him.

Where do you get your value from? Do you get your value and identity from God or from something else? Your value should come from what God thinks about you instead of anything else.
