Read Philippians 1:3-6 When Paul began his letter to the church and Philippi, he started by telling them how thankful he was for them. Paul said that he thanked God every single time he thought of the Philippians. When he prayed for them, he prayed with joy. He had been encouraged because of their partnership in the gospel. Paul was also completely confident that , just as God has started them on the path of the gospel, God would continue to work in them and finish what He started. It’s easy to feel like we don’t measure up, and there’s no other area of our life that we can feel more inadequate in that our spiritual lives. The good news for us, though, is that we are all a work in progress. We may not be where we ultimately want to be right now, but that just means that God is still working in our lives.

It’s natural for us to feel inadequate because, honestly, we are. We are all sinful and imperfect. We aren’t adequate or worthy because of what we can do or what we can accomplish. We are extremely valuable because of what we mean to God. We are adequate because God is still working in our lives. We have hope in the future because of the life God has for us.

Consider This What’s something that make you feel like you still need to work on getting God’s approval?

Pray

Ask God to continually remind you that He’s still working on you. Tell Him that you know your worth isn’t in what you can do or accomplish but in how valuable you are in His eyes.]]>
