Proverbs 13:16 I recently had to do emergency surgery on my computer. It suddenly decided to give up the ghost in the middle of working one day. Being a fairly computer savvy guy, I decided to pop open my macbook and investigate the problem myself. About half way through it, the phrase “What did I get myself into?” popped into my head as I had various computer parts, screws, and tools scattered across our kitchen table. I eventually got everything put back together and remedied the problem, but I hadn’t thought through how complicated and time consuming the task would have been. I didn’t think through my actions. This is a fairly common theme for most of our lives. We dive head first into a situation, and we don’t think through the consequences of our actions. We think we know it all, and we will buy something we can’t afford or say or do something that hurts someone close to us. We don’t stop to consider the fallout of our decisions. We’ve all been in those places in life where we are just left thinking to ourselves “What did I get myself into?” If you want to live a life that is characterized by wisdom, it will first take thinking through your actions. Consider how your actions will play out. Will it hurt those you care about? Will it leave you in a tough spot? Will it get you closer or farther away from God? Once you start doing this, it becomes a lot easier to make wise decisions.]]>
