Proverbs 13:20 My mom taught me a lot of things growing up. She taught me how to do my own laundry and how to make the perfect egg sandwich. I’ll never forget some of the life lessons she taught me throughout my childhood. I’ll also never forget the things I learned from watching her life. She was always quick to admit her own mistakes and faults, and would always tell my sister and I to “do as I say, not what I do.” I was able to learn how I wanted to live my life by watching her make mistakes. I was also able to learn by watching the good things she did. How she took care of people, was humble, and persevered even when life got tough. Because of her, I’ve been able to avoid a lot of dumb decisions I would have made if I hadn’t learned from my mom. Whether we like to admit it or not, the people we are around, including our families, affect who we become. Nothing causes us to start acting foolish more quickly than hanging out with a group of foolish people. Fortunately, God has also made the opposite of that true. When we hang around wise people, their wisdom will often rub off on us. God uses positive influences in our life to help mold us into the person He wants us to be. If you want to start making wiser decisions in your life, begin surrounding yourself with wise people. Not only are they great for bouncing ideas off of and asking for advice, but you will be able to learn from their strengths and weaknesses, and how they deal with their successes and their failure. Do you have wise people around you in your life?]]>
