Daniel Week Five, Day Five Read Daniel 10:18-21 As I look back on my life, I can’t even begin to count up how many times that I thought I needed something but really didn’t. From school, jobs, and relationships to minor details in my life, I look back and see how messed up my life would be right now if I had always gotten what I wanted or thought I needed at the time. Luckily, I’ve had people in my life who knew better for me, and, better yet, God always knew what was best for me. Turns out that I often didn’t need what I thought I needed, I needed to trust God to direct my life. After Daniel voiced his fears and frustrations to God, the man in the vision reached down and spoke to Daniel. He told Daniel to not be afraid and to be strong. When God spoke to Daniel in the vision, Daniel regained his strength and courage. He told God to speak to Him because God had given Him strength. Daniel knew that His strength didn’t come from Himself. It came directly from God. He didn’t have to go through things alone because God was the one providing Him the power to get through. Many of us have faced times in our life where we felt completely drained. You might even be in a situation like that now. Your strength is gone. You feel like you can’t go on. You can’t do it anymore. God strengthened and encouraged Daniel by reminded him of just how precious and highly esteemed Daniel was in His eyes. One touch from God changed everything about that situation in Daniel’s life. When you’re facing overwhelming situations, we get focused on trying to find answers and solutions. We want things to work out the way that we want them to work out. What we really need, though, is a touch from God. We need the strength and encouragement that only comes from Him. When you face the darkest moments of your life or even minor frustrating times, remember that God is the one who can give you the strength to stand up. REFLECT: Have you or someone you’ve known been able to have the strength to get through a tough situation even when your or they didn’t think they had what it took? What did it take for you or them to find that strength? How do you think God played a role in that? PRAY: Chances are, you or someone you’re fairly close to are going through an overwhelming time right now. Take time to pray for whatever daunting situations are facing you or the people in your life. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
