1 Peter 5:8 & John 10:10 I’ve always enjoyed sports. From watching Michael Jordan dominate when I was little and dreaming of someday playing for the Cincinnati Reds when I was a kid to cheering on the Buckeyes and playing fantasy football as an adult, sportscenter and pick ups games have always been a part of my life. I have a funny way of rooting for sports, though. I have my favorite teams like Ohio State, the Reds, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, but I also root for other teams as well. I typically root for whoever is playing the teams I hate. I don’t love the NFL, but I dislike the Packers, so I root for whoever is playing the Packers. I despise the Miami Heat, so I root against them with all that I have. I get almost just as satisfaction watching a team I don’t like lose as I do watching the teams I do like do well. That same feeling you get watching the the school up north (if you’re an Ohio State fan) get beat on the football field, is the same feeling that Satan feels toward you. He wants you to fail. He roots for you to fail. He will do anything in His power to keep you as far away from God and the plan God has for your life as he possibly can. He’ll try to trick you, tempt you, and distract you. Whatever it takes to ruin you, he will throw it at you. And, just like a good rivalry in sports, your enemy is no pushover. The only chance you have against him is by leaning on and trusting God. There are tons of things in this world that the enemy uses to trick, tempt, and distract you. It’s in these moments that we must learn to fight harder for our relationship with God because He’ll hold us up as the devil is trying to take us down. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
Reflect: What are some of the things the enemy uses to tempt, trick, and distract you? Why do you think you struggle so much with those things? Pray: Talk to God about the things that often trip you up. Ask Him to help you overcome those issues and learn to lean on Him when the enemy is trying to take you down.
