Proverbs 3:5-6 For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a pretty impatient person. I was even born three weeks early. When I was in school, I would daydream about being able to fast forward through the boring class I was sitting in. When I played sports, I always wished I could just play in the games and didn’t have to go to practice. In lines, I just want to push everyone in front of me out of the way. I’ve learned that I love the payoff that comes from going through boring things, but I’m not fond of the process it takes to get there. Life is a journey, not a destination. We may want to rush through life, skipping over the boring or challenging things, and get to where we want to go. But, God has more for us than that. God wants us to learn and grow as we walk through the good, bad, and boring of our own journeys. It’s through the process of living our life that God shows us who He is, who we are, and allows us to grow. Without experiencing all the boring and challenging stuff, we will never truly understand what it means to follow Christ. The next time you find yourself wishing your life away, remember that God is teaching and challenging you in this very moment. Instead of checking out and daydreaming of fast forwarding to your destination, take a moment to listen to what God is trying to tell you. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:

  1. What was the best part of your day?
  2. What was the toughest part of your day?
  3. Where did you mess up today?
  4. Where did you see God today?
Reflect: Why do you think God likes to use boring and challenging situations in our lives to help us grow? Pray: Think of someone who is facing a challenging time in their life. Spend a few moments praying to God for that person and their situation. READ THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT: Today’s Reading: Colossians 4]]>
