When David sinned with Bathsheba, he hadn’t completely lost his moral compass. He still knew right from wrong. He just needed help seeing that it also applied to him. Enter Nathan, who was a prophet of God during the time David was king. Nathan came to him and told him a story that was so obvious that it infuriated the king. The contrasts between rich and poor, having and taking, and nurturing and killing were obvious. David clearly saw the rich man was wrong, so wrong that he pronounced a death sentence. But David failed to see that he was that man that Nathan was talking about. We can be huge sinners at times in our life and not even realize we’ve went off track while trying to maintain 20/20 vision when it comes to the faults of others. We all need Nathans in our life that our there to help us see when we’ve lost our way. Spend a few minutes thanking God for the people in your life who keep you on track and pray that God will help you develop those types of relationships in your life.
