Read Ecclesiastes 6:7-9 & Hebrews 13:5-6

About once a week I come home from work to ripped up pieces of paper and other random items from around the house laying in our living room floor. I look over and see a dog hiding between our end table and couch because she knows she had did something she’s not supposed to do. She knew she was being bad, but her desire to chew things up overcame her fear of the consequences.

We are consumed with wanting more. We are obsessed with getting more, bigger, fancier, and nicer. We are all infected with an uncontrollable appetite for more to the point where we ignore the consequences in pursuit of it. We get so focused on getting what we want when we want it that we give little thought to the affects our actions will have. They may hurt others or ourselves or even keep us from doing what God wants us to do, but it doesn’t matter to us. We are consumed with getting more.

Are you obsessed with getting more? What are you pursuing? Are you ready to stop ignoring the consequences and pursue what God wants for your life instead of constantly looking for more?
