As Moses struggled with Pharaoh to allow God’s people to leave Egypt, things got a little messy. God sent plagues into Egypt to challenge the Egyptian’s beliefs and their perceived strength. It culminated in the passover, when God told the Israelites to sacrifice an animal and spread the blood over their doors. It was a messy and ugly affair, but this would allow the death angel to pass over their home and spare the death of their first born child. This was a picture of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Jesus’ death was a messy and ugly affair, but it is also beautiful. Jesus died so that our sins can be passed over. Spend some time today thanking God for providing a sacrifice through Jesus, so that your sins can be forgiven.
