Read Philippians 4:4-9

I’ve always had a bit of an obsessive personality. My wife often makes fun of my “kicks.” I’ll get obsessed with learning about something random, and I’ll spend weeks looking stuff up about it. If I start a netflix show, I’m going to finish it by the end of the week no matter how many seasons there might be. This is just how I’m wired.

This has helped me gain lots of dumb trivia knowledge and helped me develop some helpful skills. However, there can be a dark side of this. When I start to think about negative things, I can be consumed with negativity.

Think about these words from Paul again from Philippians 4:
_8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you._

Paul urges us to fight anxious thoughts by focusing our minds on things that are true, right, pure, lovely, admirable, and excellent or praiseworthy. God wants us to fill our minds with things that are positive. We are to focus our thoughts on His thoughts and what that means for us.

As we continue through these uncertain times, don’t allow your mind to constantly get stuck in a negative mindset. Instead, think about those things that are truly, right, and lovely.
