4 x 6 Plan | Read: Luke 12:22-34 & Hebrews 2:1-9
So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. (Hebrews 2:1)
Have you ever gotten in your car, driven to your destination and not remembered how you got there? Your thoughts wandered somewhere else and your brain went into autopilot mode while you drove from Point A to Point B. Just like we have to fight to stay present behind the wheel, we have to fight the temptation to go into autopilot spiritually.
When I’m at the beach, I love to grab and float and do nothing. The only time I have to do any work is floating into the shore and then walking back to where I originally started (which is usually like a mile down the beach). How did I get that far away from where I started? I drifted. It’s so subtle that I don’t even notice it until I compare where I am to where I started. I think that’s why Hebrews 2 is so important for us to not only hear but to “pay careful attention”. Paying careful attention requires an active listening and our full focus. We want to protect ourselves from drifting to a boring and meaningless life.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to drift and miss all that God has for us on the journey. Our daily walk needs to be intentional.
