Read Psalm 32:8-10 When my wife and I go out to dinner, there are very few times we leave the house knowing where we want to go. This usually leads to us driving around for 30 minutes arguing over who should be the one to decide where we are going to eat. I get so frustrated not knowing which direction to drive or where to go. One one of us decides where we are going to go, we always end up having a great time. We just have to get through the uncertainty first. In Psalm 32, when David writes and tells us that God is saying that He will instruct and teach us in the way we should go, that sounds pretty good to us. We want to know exactly what we should do and when we should do it. We want our loving, heavenly Father, to watch over us and guide us. But, God doesn’t control us step by step like a horse or mule. Sometimes, things aren’t always completely clear. We can take comfort, though, that even when things are uncertain, God’s unfailing love surrounds those who trust in Him. Many times in our life, we can get caught up in thinking that uncertainty surrounding our circumstances means that something is off in our life. We expect every right decision to be spelled out for us in bright, bold lights telling us exactly what to do. But, what if uncertainty isn’t an indication that we aren’t where we should be? What if uncertainty is really just an opportunity God gives us to show our faith in Him? Instead of getting so caught up in knowing in detail everything you’re supposed to do at every point in our lives, it would benefit us more to remember that God’s unfailing love surrounds us no matter where we are or what we’re going through. Above all, He is trustworthy, so we can trust Him. Reflect If you could know God’s plan FOR SURE in one area of your life, what would you choose? Why would you choose that area? Why do you think God doesn’t work that way? Pray Spend a few minutes today to talk to God about the uncertain areas of your life. Ask God to help you trust Him in the midst of the uncertain areas of your life. // TWO-A-DAYS // GO A LITTLE FARTHER WITH YOUR DAILY DEVOTIONS // Go through these questions with your spouse, kids, or friend, or you can even journal about the answers to these questions:
- What was the best part of your day?
- What was the toughest part of your day?
- Where did you mess up today?
- Where did you see God today?
