Read Luke 15:3-7

I’m somewhat of a packrat. I don’t like to get rid of things just to get rid of things in case I might use it in the future. It never fails, though, there has been something laying around for days, weeks, or even months that I see all the time. I’m constantly moving it out of the way or trying to find a place for it. However, as soon as I need it, it’s no where to be found. I get frustrated because I lost it, and I usually rip through the house trying to find it. It doesn’t matter how useless I thought the thing was for months, in that moment it becomes the most important thing to me.

When it comes to our relationship with God, we can sometimes feel like we’ve messed up too much for God to still love us. In God’s eyes, though, none of us are ever too far gone. Our mistakes will come with consequences, but we will never pile enough of them up for God to not take us back when we turn toward Him. No matter how long you’ve felt like the useless piece of junk sitting on the shelf, God still loves you and accepts you. Our God is the God who will leave the 99 to find the one lost sheep.

If you are struggling with shame and guilt, realize today that God is ready and waiting for you to turn back toward Him. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve messed up, God still accepts you just as you are and is ready to help you take your next step.]]>
