4 x 6 Plan | Read: Luke 12:35-48 & Hebrews 2:10-18
He also said, “I will put my trust in him,” that is, “I and the children God has given me.” Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death.. (Hebrews 2:13-14)
Do you love hashtags? Companies use them to categorize messages and tweets while most of us just use them to be funny or make a point. When people started using them in text messages years ago, my wife made a decision. She said she will never use a hashtag in any message…ever. She’s at least a woman of principle because she never has. She is not a fan. However, that doesn’t mean that I can’t send her text messages during the day that literally are nothing but hashtags. What can I say, I’m a great husband. 😀
If there was ever a good moment for a hashtag in the Bible, it may be in Hebrews 2. God sent a clear message: I will destroy what destroys mankind—death due to sin and fear. I will destroy it with the perfect sacrifice. I will send my Son—perfectly Holy, without sin—perfectly man—understanding and suffering everything—“that by His death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is Satan—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14-15).
There was no ‘social media’ in Jesus’s time, but God has spoken clearly to us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. As believers, we live in freedom because our sin debt was paid on the cross. We need not fear death because Jesus destroyed sin power over it with His own death and resurrection. We not only find eternal life but are offered an Epic Life of Jesus living in and through us on Earth! #TheBestIsYetToCome!
