4 x 6 Plan | Read: Luke 10:25-42  & 1 Peter 4:1-11

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. (1 Peter 4:10)

Two different Christmas mornings stand out to me as a kid.  One year I remember I HAD to have a Hot Lyxx guitar.  I got one only to realize that it only had 4 buttons and was pretty boring.  The other year, I wanted the game Tecmo Super Bowl for Nintendo.   I actually loved that game for years.  Matter of fact, if you give me San Francisco and Ronnie Lott on defense…You’ll never score (Facts!) 🙂

We read today that you have been given (at least one) spiritual gift. This gift has great value, and it was selected just for you by the One who loves you more than anyone else in the world loves you. He wants you to enjoy it, and He wants you to use it.  So how do we do that?

1 Peter 4 says we should use our spiritual gifts to serve others, and when we do, God will be praised. Sometimes it is difficult to discover our spiritual gifts, but the best way to learn about how God has gifted us is to start serving others.  Our core belief at C3 is that we are a Family of Servants on Mission to help others live and love like Jesus.  We don’t serve because we have to, we do it because it’s our true identity.  This Sunday for week 4 of our Recalculate Series, we’ll be discussing how Identity Theft is a bigger issue within the church body than it is in the world.

What if you didn’t see yourself today as a teacher or driver or cashier that also happens to follow Jesus…but as a follower of Jesus called to serve others while also happening to be a teacher or driver or cashier?  We get to model how Jesus lived and loved everyday to those we have been sent to serve.

Action Steps

Bible: What is God showing me?  What am I going to do about it?

Bless: Serve one person through word, action, or gift today.
