4 x 6 Plan | Read: Matthew 13:44-58 & Romans 11:25-36

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. (Matthew 13:44)

I read about a man on vacation that found a rare purple pearl in a clam with his $14 dinner.  I almost returned it because it had peppers and his wife didn’t like peppers. The purple pearl may be worth up to $16,000!  Have you ever stumbled upon something of great value unexpectedly? Maybe it was a hidden treasure, a rare find at a thrift store, or a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that came your way. In Matthew 13:44-58, Jesus tells two parables that illustrate the incredible worth of the kingdom of heaven. The good news is that we have discovered something even more valuable than any earthly treasure – the extravagant grace and love of God.

These parables remind us that the gospel is good news because it unveils the immeasurable value of our relationship with God. Just as the person who found the treasure in the field and the merchant who discovered the pearl of great value were willing to give up everything to possess them, the gospel calls us to let go of anything that hinders us from fully experiencing the riches of God’s love. Maybe sometimes we return the amazing gifts that God’s given us because we don’t like peppers as well.   It’s not about earning or striving, but about recognizing the incomparable worth of being in a relationship with the Creator of the universe.

The “Great” News of the Gospel | Romans 11:25-36

In Romans 11:25-36, Paul reflects on the mystery of God’s plan and the ultimate redemption of all people. This passage reminds us that God’s love and mercy extend beyond what we can comprehend. It emphasizes that the gospel is great news because it reveals a God who is relentless in His pursuit of reconciliation and restoration. So let us be filled with awe and gratitude for the vastness of God’s grace. Let us trust in His wisdom and surrender to His plan, knowing that He is the author and finisher of our faith. The gospel is great news because it reveals a God who is beyond our comprehension, yet intimately involved in our lives. It assures us that we are embraced by a love that knows no bounds, and it invites us to live in the freedom and joy of knowing that we are secure in the hands of a gracious and loving Father.
