It’s 3 days until Easter week at C3 and next Friday, April 7th, we’ll be taking communion together at 11am. This is one of my favorite things we do at C3 each year.c3church.tv/easterweek/
4 x 6 Plan | Read: Mark 9:1-13 & 1 Corinthians 15:20-34
But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. (Mark 8:35)
In Mark 9:1-13, we see Jesus revealing His glory to His disciples in a powerful and dramatic way. This was a moment that would stick with them forever and shape their understanding of who Jesus was and what He came to do.
But what can we learn from this passage today? How can we apply it to our own lives?
Firstly, we can see that Jesus is more than just a great teacher or prophet. He is the Son of God, with power and authority beyond our comprehension. When we follow Jesus, we are not just following a wise teacher – we are following the Lord of all creation.
Secondly, we can see that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament law and prophets. Moses and Elijah, two of the greatest figures in Jewish history, appear with Jesus on the mountain. This is a powerful confirmation that Jesus is the one they were all waiting for – the Messiah who would fulfill all of God’s promises.
Finally, we can see that Jesus calls us to listen to Him. As Peter is babbling on about building tents, God interrupts him and says, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” In our own lives, we can get caught up in our own plans and ideas, but God reminds us to listen to Jesus above all else.
