Read Psalm 51:16-19

When I was a kid, I would sleepwalk a lot. It was uncommon for me to fall asleep one place and find myself in a completely different area of the house when I woke up. I could fall asleep in my bed and wake up sitting upright on the couch. Not only that, my mom told me that I’d often talk to her while I was sleepwalking. Evidently, I wasn’t very polite when I did this.

Sleepwalking is a scary thing because you’re going through the motions like you are awake when you are really fast asleep. You don’t really have control over what you are doing. You’re really not even aware of what you’re doing.

Many of us are sleep walking through our lives. We do the same old things the same old ways because that’s what everyone else is doing. Many times, it feels like we have no control over our life. Other times, we may not even be aware of what we are truly doing with our lives. It’s because we are sleepwalking.

God doesn’t want us to sleepwalk through the life He has given us. He wants us to be intentional about what we do, how we do it, and why we do it. He wants us to truly live for Him. Even if it means we fail at times.

Are you sleepwalking through life? What can you do to wake up and be intentional about how you live?
