Read Matthew 16:24-28

I don’t particularly like to travel a whole lot because, to be honest, I am a homebody…I just like to be home. However, when I am away on vacation or something, I love to look at the amazing things in the world that we don’t have around here. I love to look out into the ocean, see a gigantic mountain, or stare up at a sky scraper. It reminds me of how big the world is, it makes me think of how big God is, and it helps me understand that I get to be a part of something much bigger than myself.

To live for God, to be weird, is to live for a purpose much bigger than yourself. Most of us do that, though. We live selfishly. We want to focus on ourselves, our needs, and what we want. But, God has called us to a life much more important than just taking care of ourselves. He has called us to sacrifice our time, energy, and resources. He has called us to be generous, not only with what we have, but be generous enough to give of ourselves to others.

You have a choice to make. You can live for yourself, or you can live for a purpose much bigger than you could ever imagine.
