Ecclesiastes 6:9 Several months ago, I ran my first half marathon. I was excited to run because it was a big step for me, but I was a little nervous. I hadn’t been able to run very much leading up to the race because of the bitterly cold winter. I didn’t think I had a chance to get anywhere close to the goal time I had set when I began training. As the race went on, though, I realized I wasn’t far off of the time I had set as a goal. After I saw that my target time was within reach, I pushed myself and did everything I could to finish in under 2 hours. By the end of the race, I did miss the mark by a minute or two, but I was thrilled at how much better I did in the process. I did well because I had a goal that I was pursuing. Had I not realized the time I was running for, I wouldn’t have finished anywhere near where I did. We pursue alot of different goals and things in our life. We pursue relationships, goals, financial security, respect, and much more. God has called each of us to pursue our spouses the way He pursues us as His people. Our goal should be to love and care for one another in our marriages. Its our jobs to pursue our spouses and to make them feel loved, respected, and cared for. However, many people have stopped pursuing their spouses in exchange for pursuing other things in their life. Maybe it’s something at work, or even a relationship with someone else. If you’ve allowed anything to take the place of pursuing your spouse, it’s time to stop and get your priorities back in line. And, if you’ve been pursuing someone else other than  your spouse, it’s time to stop. The best way to ruin everything in your marriage is by growing an inappropriate relationships with someone from the opposite sex. What are you pursuing in your life? Your marriage is too important to pursue anything other than your spouse.]]>
