Matthew 5:27-30 I’ve never been much of a daredevil. I’m not a fan of heights or anything where a large man that isn’t paying attention can slip and fall to his death. This was especially true when I was a kid because I wasn’t very coordinated when I was in elementary school. That’s why when on a weekend trip with my dad as a kid, I was petrified when a group of us took a hike where the trail led to an old train bridge. This bridge was beyond rickety. It was missing wooden slats, parts of it were rotting, and you never knew with each step if the wood was going to give out underneath your feet. I didn’t walk across, but my family urged me to go. As we took several steps out onto the bridge that seemed like it was 25 miles long, I realized there was no going back. I would have to cross the bridge even if it meant impending death. While I survived my point of no return, many marriages aren’t so lucky. 41% of men and women have committed either physical or emotional infidelity in their marriages. These people have become apathetic, stopped pursuing their significant other, and have looked around them for other opportunities. Then the moment came for them to make the choice, and they did. They can’t take it back. For some it destroyed their marriages immediately, and other couples try to work it out to varying degrees of success. While we are to follow God’s examples of forgiveness being merciful when others sin, it takes alot of energy and effort to begin repairing a relationship that has been rocked by adultery whether physical or emotional. It’s much better to avoid making the stupid mistake to begin with. If you’ve gone down the road and have begun contemplating of going past that point of no return, stop now. It’s not worth it.]]>
