Galatians 5:16-23 In “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” the Grinch is a creature who hates Christmas and everything about it. Many of the Who’s believe his heart was just two sizes too small. The Grinch hated Christmas because of his own misery, and he sought to ruin it for everyone around him as well. He was consumed with his hate and did things that, in the Whoville world, were unimaginable. If we are honest, we’ve all been in situations or done things in our life that we are ashamed of. We ended up somewhere in our life that we never thought we’d be. Chances are, our selfishness caused us to not care about consequences and do what we wanted to do anyway. We humans are funny like that. Like Herod on Sunday, we find ourselves doing things unimaginable that we are ashamed of just because we were trying to get what we wanted out of life. The good news about the Grinch is that he saw the error of his ways and changed before it was too late. Herod wasn’t so lucky and died being absolutely miserable. You can choose how you want to live your life. Do you want to live your life fueled by your misery or greed? Or, do you want to live your life God’s way through compassion, humility, selflessness, and generosity? The choice is yours. ]]>
