Psalm 46 One definition of courage is to have strength in the face of pain or grief. In today’s world, we live in an age of Jersey Shore men who like to talk a big game and act macho  but cower once they face anything that is going to be tough or painful. In the story of Jesus’ birth, Joseph was a courageous man’s man because he came through in one of the toughest situations imaginable. We would all like to be more courageous, so we try to put on a brave face when tough times hit. While that might be helpful for some people, it’s still not true courage. True courage comes from learning that GOD IS MORE POWERFUL THAN ANY THREAT THAT MAY COME YOUR WAY. At C3, we like to sing a song called Our God (is Greater) that says: “Our God is greater, our God is stronger, God You are higher than any other, Our God is Healer, awesome and power….And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us, And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?, What can stand against?” We like to play this on Sundays to remind ourselves that our God is truly bigger than any situation that is going to come our way. The question isn’t if God can’t handle our tough situations. The question is if we are going to trust God enough to allow Him to take care of us when our life seems to get turned upside down.]]>
