Read: Matthew 11:28-30 Christmas decorations don’t last forever. Take Christmas lights, for instance. Bulbs grow dim, and, before too many years, only half the string is glowing. After a few more years, the wires grow too thin and brittle to use safely anymore. But decorations aren’t the only things that wear out, decorators do too. As my mom grew older she swapped her six-foot tree for a three-foot tree she put up on a table. Eventually, she even stopped taking off the lights and ornaments after Christmas. She simply covered it up and put it in a corner in the basement. The following December she carried it back up, uncovered it, set it on the table and it was good to go! I hate to think of it, but I know a time will come when I will be too worn out to pull out the ladder and cover our house in lights like Clark Griswold. One day our wonderful seven-foot Christmas tree may have to be replaced with a three-foot tabletop tree. Maybe you too are worn out from all the busyness of life and the holidays, and that is cutting into the joy you used to feel at Christmas. In this chaotic time of year, make sure you are carving out time for yourself, time to spend with your family and the ones you love, and, especially, time to work on your relationship with God.  ]]>
