Jacob spent at least fourteen years away from home, had gotten married (twice) and had several sons, but, finally, it was time to go back home in hopes that it was now safe to return to his brother Esau who he had betrayed. One night, Jacob was visited by a mysterious figure who wrestled him in the dark. Jacob wrestled well, and the stranger touched Jacob’s hip and put his leg out of socket. Jacob still held on, insisting that the stranger blessed him. Jacob realized he was wrestling with God Himself. Jacob was a desperate man, and he had run out of tricks. He had no where to turn, and nothing to offer God. All he could do was hang on. Do you ever feel like the only option you have is to just hang on? Pray and ask God today to help you to hang on to Him even when things get tough in your life.
